Three Days In Bruges!

Hey guys, how are you all today? Happy Friday! :) Today, I'm going to fill you all in on my three day trip to Bruges, Belgium! I went from Thursday to Sunday, 14th to the 17th. I had a wonderful time! Unlike most trips I plan, Bruges was very different. I didn't have 3-5 things planned for each day. I wanted a small break where I could relax and really soak in a new place without all of the rush. One thing I really wanted to do was take a boat tour around the canals of Bruges, but the weather was so stormy in Bruges (It was amazing to listen to in bed at night) that the boat tour companies weren't operating!
I stayed in the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in my life! Hotel Goezeput is a refurbished 18th Century monastery and just 600m away from the Grote Markt, the main square. The bed was so cosy, there were exposed beams, and I had the best view in Bruges!

As a foodie and a baker, one thing I couldn't wait to do was spend hours gazing through chocolate shops windows and going in to them and be in awe of the chocolate craft Belgium is so famous for! You really have to see for yourself. It's a sensory explosion. Taste, feel, scent, the clear snap of excellent chocolate. And the free samples, oh my god the free samples. Bruges definitely left me inspired to work on my chocolate work in baking! The waffles and fries were gorgeous also. I'm not a jelly sweet person at all, but these jelly sweets exclusive to Belgium called Cuberdons were so so amazing! I still crave them. *sigh*

I am not big on heights at all, but ever since I found out more about Bruges, I was mad to climb Belfry tower! It is 87 metres or 286 feet of steep and narrow stairs with people doing down as you were going up. It was fairly nerve wracking and felt like giving up 36 steps to the top, but I preserved. And it was worth it. So beyond worth it. The views were outstanding. The bell tolled when I reached the windy top of the tower. The most terrifying thing I have ever done, and the most beautiful experience.

After my feat with the Belfry Tower, I visited the Torture Museum! Which was without a doubt, one of the most interesting museums ever! I love that kind of stuff, and I adore history alot, so the Torture Museum was a big hit with me. It showed different types of torture for every offence from gossiping, fighting, sexual deviancy, public drunkenness, homosexuality, rape and murder. It showed different types of torture in each country throughout the ages. I highly recommend this museum if you're in Bruges! Entrance was only €8.

I call this one ''One fuckboy too many''

Some more photos of Bruges wonderful beauty. :)

And that is my trip to Bruges! It was such a wonderful, beautiful and amazing place, full of friendly and lovely people! With an Old Europe feel, cobbled streets, horse and carriages, amazing food and endless inspiration with natural beauty and history at every turn, I can't wait to return!  I picked the perfect place to relax and unwind after a stressful 2015!

NYX soft matte lip cream

Hey everyone! How are you all doing today? Today, I'll be talking about a wonderful lip cream from one of my favourite make-up brands ever, NYX! I was eyeing up the NYX soft matte lip creams for a while and I waited too long and the shade Transylvania that I originally wanted, was sold out. Instead, I picked up the shade, Prague. I love how all of the lip creams are named after places. Prague is such a stunning shade, a deep fuschia pink colour. I love this lip cream so much!

The NYX soft matte lip cream has a completely matte finish, and it is not one bit drying, at all! This lip cream feels so amazingly comfortable on the lips, you forget you're wearing anything on your lips at all. It feels so soft and completely weightless. It has a beautiful, sweet yet subtle vanilla scent. The NYX lip cream is so pigmented and opaque, for a fantastic colour payoff. It lasts a long time on the lips aswell, fading after three or four hours. It both applies and fades evenly. Compared to alot of other lip products I have (believe me, there's plenty!), this lip cream hardly transfers off the lips onto other surfaces.

I absolutely love the NYX soft matte lip cream so much! I can't wait to pick it up in other shades. Hopefully the shade Transylvania will be back in stock soon. These lip creams cost €7.70, and I give them a well deserved 10/10!
Have you tried the NYX soft matte lip creams yet? What were your thoughts? Let me know below!

A Letter To 12 Year Old Kim

Kim,
You are not the person you imagined and hoped so hard to become at 12 years old, surrounded by your Playboy everything room. You are not tall, expensively dressed with the perfect body and tame manageable hair with a penthouse in New York City. Life is hard, as you find out. When you are 22, almost 23, you are short and average looking, but you are blessed with a spark, a fire, a passion that never goes out, no matter what way the wind blows. Your self belief is beyond anything that you could have ever imagined.
You have tried so hard and failed with flying colours, just to be normal. You wonder and you cry why your stupid self can't just act normal enough to be invited to the other girl's houses and sleepovers. Little do you know, your inability to fit in, sets you apart and it is probably the best thing that could have happened to you You simply were not meant to fit in and be normal, you oddball. So in the spirit of that, enjoy playing in the dirt, digging for worms. Enjoy climbing trees. Enjoy making up imaginary characters and imaginary worlds. Keep working on your ''terrible on purpose'' opera singing, you absolute fruitloop!
I won't lie to you, your teenage years are tougher than you can imagine. You have been sold a false image of what it means to be beautiful. If I remember correctly, you have posters of picture perfect models on your bedroom walls. You forget all about inner beauty, which you have plenty of. You can't permanently change your thick and unruly hair (By the way, when you're 15, the hairdresser finds a naturally formed dreadlock in you hair. You laughed alot!) and you can't hide your freckles. It saddens me to remember that you hated your blue eyes so. You are beautiful.
You will experience two great heartbreaks. When you are 15, a guy will break your heart into pieces. Not all at once, but slowly. 22 year old Kim will simply laugh at fuckboys then bake. Then at 17, your beloved cat Fluffy dies. Fluffy's death will hurt alot more. Speaking of love, when you are 16, the most wonderful guy in the world will sweep you off your feet. I know right now you don't believe yourself worthy of this kind of love. You are. He will make you feel butterflies. He will make you feel safe, happy, secure and loved. Even when you are at your most unlovable.
You are in Killina now. The first -real- friend you make is the most wonderful person, Cat. She is true blue. You have both seen each other at your best and at your worst. Never have you gone through so much shit with someone. You both come out of the other end the best of friends. Keep her in your life, for life. She is getting married in March! You will never be so proud of her.
At 22, it's not your priority to be popular, or even liked, like you so crave. You have a small group of friends that are loyal, wonderful and spur you on. You come across so many crappy friends as a teenager. One who assaults you, one who just wanted in your pants, and another who just kept you around to help them with their college work. They are all a blessing is disguise. They make you see who's worth it, that it's always quality over quantity, and they help you love your own company. You truly become your own best friend.
One of the worst years in your life is when you turn 16. The bullying gets too much. You have been in denial for over a year about your true feelings. You can't look in the mirror without feeling disgust. You pick up a horrible addiction. You have come so close to the end, yet you trod on. You always told yourself 'Things will be okay, things will get better'. The pendulum swings. You still have your moments at 22, but you manage so much better. You are a little warrior. Give yourself some time. Cut yourself some slack.
Keep up the baking. Keep dedicating Saturdays to baking instead of studying. Keep making scones wrong on purpose to see what happens and why. Keep experimenting. Keep hosting little baking tv shows in your kitchen. You discover a passion for all things baking, something you knew was always really there. Beyond anything you could have possibly dreamed. You are prouder than you care to admit.
It might not seem like it now, but all of the bad experiences (and the good) shape you into a pretty cool person. You are not one bit like you imagined you would be at 22. You're still short (yet deadly) with freckles and thick unruly hair. You're hardheaded, funny, passionate, creative and cocky. You talk too much, nonsense at times. You are surrounded by love. You are excitable and motivated.
No, you are not the person you thought you would be at 22. And that has made all the difference.
I love you and I will keep trying to make you proud.
Love,
Your 22 year old self.

PS; We totally thought of this idea in the bath!

Golden Lights Vivid Baked Highlighter

Hey guys! Remember me? I know it's been just under two weeks since I posted. Like I mentioned in my The Best of 2015 post, 2015 was a rough year for me, and I fancied a little break. I also went to Bruges! Which I will be posting about, so keep your eyes peeled! Anyway, I'm back to talk to you guys all about the Golden Lights highlighter from the fabulous budget brand Make-Up Revolution.

I love a good highlighter, me. They are one of my favourite make-up products. Got to get that highlighter ''on fleek'', as the kids are saying. I've been wanting to try the Golden Lights highlighter for a good while, as I heard nothing but good things about it from other bloggers. I on the other hand, found it to be a very 'meh' highlighter. I have to say, there is a very generous amount of highlighter included, which would be wonderful if the highlighter quality itself was up to scratch. The packaging is pretty basic, but the embossing is really quite pretty.

The colour of this highlighter is golden yellow. The quality of this highlighter is cheap in every aspect. It was waaay too shimmery, full on and sparkly, which can ruin the rest of your applied make-up, even with a very light hand! It does last most of the day when applied.
The Golden Lights highlighter from Make-Up Revolution costs €3.33, and I give it 3/10. I wouldn't buy this highlighter again.

Have you guys ever tried this highlighter before? What were your thoughts? What is your favourite highlighter? Let me know below!

Mark Hill MiracOILous hair mask

Hey guys! How are you all doing today? Welcome to my first post of 2016! Today, I'll be talking about the Mark Hill MiracOILous hydrating hair mask. I'm the type of person who only buys hair masks once in a while, so I haven't really found a hair mask I really love yet, so if you guys know of any great hair masks, let me know below! The Mark Hill MiracOILous hair mask is a two minute treatment for hair in need of some TLC and for dry hair. I use this mask once a week after shampooing, apply it from my roots to the ends, and leave it in while I shower. The mask says that you can leave it in longer than 10 minutes, the longer the better. You can even leave it in overnight if you wish!

The key ingredients in this hair mask are: Moroccan Argan Oil-  moisturises and hydrates hair, tames frizz and flyaways. Promotes hair growth. Softens hair. Adds shine to the hair. Ylang Ylang- Balances oil production and stimulates hair growth. Soothes the scalp. Bergamot- Adds shine to the hair. Patchouli-  Soothes the scalp.

This hair mask promises to: Replenish moisture loss and to infuse protein back into the hair, leaving the hair softer and shinier than ever. The first thing I noticed about using this hair mask is how well it detangled my long hair! My hair does feel softer and easier to manage. However, this hair mask leaves so much build up when I use it. It also weighed my hair down, making it feel heavy and lank at the roots. It doesn't make my hair too shiny, either. The scent is really lovely and sweet, and I adore the packaging and the colours!
The Mark Hill MiracOILous Hydrating hair mask costs €7.49 at Boots. I give it a 4/10. I won't be repurchasing this hair mask again. I really didn't like how much build up it left and how much it weighed down my hair! I'll be returning to the safe Aussie masks until I find a hair mask I really love!
Have you ever tried this hair mask before? What were your thoughts? Let me know below!
